The signage for both the entrance to the community and for the beach access points (at both the entrance to and exit from the beach) is due for updating. Signage for speed control is being worked separately.
We, Robyn MacKay and Susan Stark, have been working to put together some templates for signs that will replace the existing signage. We have reviewed signage wording with both our lawyer and insurer and there are no specific words that need to be included on any sign to give us liability protection. The key to liability protection is the maintenance of our assets in safe operating condition.
Templates for the signs are shown below. Within the templates, there are areas that have been filled with sample text. There are several different word choices we can use to convey the desired message. By taking part in this survey, you will be letting us know what you would like to see in each section, and we will go with the most popular wording from the survey choices.
Keep an eye out for the survey!

Entrance Sign
The two wooden oval signs at the entrance to the Community will be replaced with one green metal sign. The sign is expected to be 24” wide and 36” high and placed near the flag poles, before a car would go through the white fenced area into our community The key messages that we want the sign to convey are that this is a private community, with the roadway and all property privately owned. Even though Bell’s Point Road has a sign that says no exit, it may be desirable by some people to reinforce this message at our entrance.

Beach Access and Exit Signage
The beach access points are the area where we, as a community, are most at risk of liability. Here we believe the key message is that these assets are Privately owned by the Sunset Dunes PEI HOA. These signs would be posted at both the road entrance to the beach access and at the base of the beach stairs and be 18” wide by 12” high.
