This spring, we sent out a survey regarding the possible options to restore/repair Lila’s Walk as a follow-up to the 2022 AGM where Lot owners voted nearly unanimously to fund an extensive upgrade/replacement of Lila’s Beachwalk at the cost of $500 per Lot over three years including the removal and replacement of the wooden boardwalk with a gravel path between the beach walk roadside trail entrance to coastal/wetland buffer zone in 2023.
A big thank you to the 67% of owners participated in the survey. While the Lila’s Boardwalk committee offered several options, unfortunately, there was no clear consensus regarding the option to replace this section with a gravel path vs a wooden boardwalk similar to what is currently in place. However, preliminary cost estimates suggest replacement with a wooden boardwalk of similar size, material, and profile would be significantly more expensive. Part of the reason why we did not have a clear path forward was that we did not provide enough information.
While the Lila’s Beachwalk Committee members have volunteered to make some minor repairs to the boardwalk (including beach access stairs)to improve safety for this summer season, the committee is using the information from the survey to gather more information about the different options. On a positive note, the Province has provided the HOA with guidance/approval to proceed with Beachwalk trail replacement/upgrades We will be returning to you for more input sometime this summer. As a board, we are mindful that the Lila’s Walk assessment needs to reflect the wishes of the Sunset Dunes Community and we appreciate your feedback and support.
