Spring has sprung! The SDPEIHOA is proceeding with maintenance requirements and possible upgrades for Lila’s Beachwalk as follows:
- Maintenance requirements will continue to be contracted out if and as required through the spring-summer of 2022.
- The SDPEIHOA has also been researching options and soliciting cost estimates regarding upgrades to Lila’s Beachwalk including potential replacement of the wooden walkway with gravel in the dry areas and floating docks or other comparable options in the dune leeside wetland areas. The scope of upgrades under consideration may also include future replacement of the beach access stairs over the dunes although this initiative may be deferred for into the future in favour of continued maintenance.
- The HOA plans to submit Lila Beachwalk project upgrade proposal options (inclusive of cost and scope of work) to Sunset Dunes property owners later this summer for decision.
- The Provincial Dept of Environment has also advised that beyond minor maintenance, the scope of work under consideration to Lila’s Beachwalk will require a Watercourse, Wetland, and Buffer Zone Activities Permit such that an application will be submitted by the SD PEI HOA prior to any project commencing.
If all goes well we are hoping the upgrades can be completed later this fall. We’ll keep you posted here! (BTW, if you want to be notified of new postings to the website, subscribe in the right sidebar.)
BTW, since some of you are not on the island yet, here are some photos that might help you visualize what’s happening at Lila’s Walk:
